I have christened this boy, Maine. Why Maine? It came to me. And just felt right. Main land … For this boy needs situating. Unsure. Cautious. Running scared. I Hope with a name like Maine he can stand tall. And situated soon.
16/09/2025: Maine has been neutered. So lets Talk Maine… Now Ive had some time with Maine ai feel I can express and share a Lil about him. Maine came from the same galguero as Kanak. So it doesn’t surprise me to see what I see.
Kanak abused and beaten down, and Maine I see with a short fuse. On the Edge. Reminds me of different ways of working. For instance Anzan, Kermit, Daiki and Dazzle .. whereby their reaction is quicker than their thinking but then on reaction, they burst.
In Maine’s case he has a snappy response out of the blue. Once he’s done that, he can follow the corresponding dog to their bay and intimidate them by rising over them. Ánger speaks volúmns here. It’s different than working with trauma cases. So we begin a process with Maine very carefully.
To reduce all the triggers and stresses that can spark him. And build from there, what’s ok and what’s not ok. It’s not that we should automatically jump in and say he needs to be an only dog, for that’s not the answer at this time. .
He lives perfectly well with his bay mates. It’s to find out what makes him do this and eliminate the feeling that provokes such threat. Having worked with Dazzle and Daiki, I am hopeful he can come around. Kermit and Anzan were very similar in their ánger at life.
And quite rightly so. This needs time to be allowed and a process to work through. Maine. 🩷 It’s going to be ok. In rehabilitation. Negative leishmania, erlichea, filaria, anaplasma. Babesia results to confirm.
